Slugging The Bore
Driving a soft lead slug such as a hollow fishing sinker with a steel or brass rod, intermittently wrapped with electrical tape, through the bore and measuring the diameter of the land and groove impressions on the slug will provide a determination of the barrel bore and groove dimensions. However the critical bore and groove dimensions adjoining the throat and leade area should be obtained from an Impact Impression or Cerrosafe Casting of the chamber.
